Helpful staff, lovely chips
Went to the takeaway entrance today but wasn’t sure if I would be able to order as I had my dog with me so couldn’t go into the shop. But the staff were really helpful – asked me what I wanted and said that if I went to the other door they’d bring it out and I could pay there. Lovely chips too. Will definitely be back if I’m in the area again.
Fish supper was very good but would much prefer good old Scottish batch plain bread instead of the Warburton style gooey tasteless pan bread that is offered.
All in all very good with clean facilities and friendly attentive staff.
Fantastic- and Gluten free available too
Best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. Great gluten free menu. We went twice on our weeks holiday in Fife. If you are a coeliac you should have no problems eating here.
Best service I have ever received
I grew up in the former Anstruther Holiday village for 12 years and often come back from time to time to reminisce in memories
Last night myself and my friend came to the wee chippy and what an amazing experience we had, we were greeted by a warm & friendly staff member called Jackie who made sure that we were looked after and had a great time,l whilst in the restaurant, she made sure we got all our food correct, she even engaged in good conversation and jokes aswell as making sure she was doing her job which she did all these fantastically, I couldn’t have asked for a better service and I can openly say that it is single handedly the best customer service I have received in any form of shop
The kitchen staff ensured our food was prepared quickly, freshly and was a decent sized portion so I would like to thank all kitchen staff from last night for service such great great quality food in a speedy manner.
Spending 12 years (1998-2010) in anstruther I was used to going to other chip shops which will remain Unnamed but can happily say that due to Jackie and the rest of the team I will 100% be back to the Wee Chippy every time I head back over
Hopfully I will see yous guys soon
Shocking - small greasy fish, uncooked chips and overcharged
Shocking – small old dry fish, grease ridden and greasy uncooked chips- Having queued for over half an hour on Saturday 19th June 2021 whilst watching unmasked staff behind the counter messing around we got two portions of greasy batter dripping everywhere – the portions of fish were miniscule and what little in the batter was dry and tasted old – the chips were not cooked and grease ridden – and to cap it all I realised that two fish suppers at £7.95 did not equate to £17.40 which is what I was charged. Rubbish and not recommended. I sent the owner an email with pictures – he apologised, promised to look into it – but 6 days later no reply.
The portion was shocking. I ordered 4 fish suppers and all of them were really small and the fish was wafer thin.
Do you self a favour and go Anstruther fish bar.
Gorgeous restuarant. Not quite a wee chippy but more like a NY loft. Food was excellent as was the service. Great food at an amazing price. Perhaps rethink the tin mugs and plates. They’re ugly and in no way inkeeping with the theme of the otherwise amazingingly decorated restuarant.
Makes my daughter smile for miles
When your 10 yr old has coeliac a good gluten free place to eat is hard to find. The Wee Chippy make the most amazing gluten free batter so fish, onion rings, battered sauage and amazing chips are all on the menu. We none coeliac people have gf batter now too.
Bravo your worth the 3 hour drive
Just home from visiting the ‘wee chippy’ with my husband and two of my grandchildren. The fish, chips and mushy peas were so tasty, really fresh and lovely and warm. Service was excellent. Young girl who served us was very pleasant and attentive.
Our first visit here and won’t be the last.
It was so fresh we couldn’t believe it.
We use this chip shop over and over again.
There is nothing as good as it anywhere near here.
Well done everyone.
